Kisumu Polytechnic students on Tuesday, January 5 took to the streets to protest their collegemate’s killing.

The Final Year student was fatally stabbed by thugs on Sunday night while heading to his rented house in Joyland area in Manyatta after watching a football match within the polytechnic’s premises.

The deceased was with his colleague, Stanley Ochieng, when the thugs accosted and violently robbed them of their money and mobile phones.

“My friend (the deceased) and I were rushed to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching & Referral Hospital, where he was treated and discharged. He later travelled to his rural home in Maseno, where he died on Monday night,” said Ochieng, who has since been discharged from hospital.

On Tuesday, January 5, the students took to the streets to demonstrate against increased insecurity in the area.
